Starting with a cruise on a speed boat around the Corniche:
Our boat was stopped a couple times at the check points by the Abu Dhabi Coast Guards; apparently they did this to the driver regardless of how many times, they had seen him over the course of 2 hours. However, they seemed very friendly.
When the boat would slow down, I could not resist reaching into the Arabian Gulf. We have been told that the water is extremely salty and on a good day, you could see dolphins. The Marina Mall at a distance.
Here stands the tallest flag pole in the world; it is next to the Abu Dhabi Theatre.
Around the Fish Souk Area.
Lulu Island which is man-made, which is open to the public. Apparently after hours, this is a happening spot for beach parties.
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which received approximately 100,000 fasters within the first few days of Ramadan. It costs approximately 2 billion to build.
At the Date Souk several options to select from. In fact there are 20+ date varieties in the UAE.
Fresh options at the Fish Souk; even shark meat was available. All fish can be descaled or prepared for you in the kitchen area; one can even purchase necessary spices.
Our day as tourists also included some fun at Action Zone for a few hours of arcade type games.
Lastly, and Iftar meals were a MUST HAVE throughout training :)
Now the restaurant below was definitely a unique experience.
Because this was also a furniture store, Talk about product placement throughout dinner. If you need to take an eating break, you could easily walk around the store shopping for items. Brilliant idea!
I personally could not resist this purchase. It is my homage / obsession with London.
BONUS THIS WEEK:
Student lounges within Sama Tower; they represent NYU Study Away Sites
Abu Dhabi
Paris, France
Accra, Ghana
Florence, Italy
Shanghai, China
London, UK
Madrid, Spain
NEXT WEEK….hopefully a consistent schedule and time to do more exploration.

The lounge pictures are so cool! But they should also have NYU Washington Square!
ReplyDeleteGood suggestion. With more residential floors next year, I think that will be incorporated.
